Position Description
The HDR Olympia office is looking for qualified a Bridge Engineer interested in solving complex bridge problems for unique and interesting vehicular and rail bridge projects.
The primary duties of this position include serving in a lead technical role, including the planning, analysis, and design, on bridge projects ranging from conventional to innovative bridge types.
This includes performing structural load calculations, seismic analysis, and bridge plan and specifications development, as well as overseeing geometric layout and quantity development, assigning work and/or check design calculations, construction cost estimate development, and work products produced by EITs. Typical projects include precast concrete girder (prestressed and/or post-tensioned), cast-in-place concrete girder (conventionally reinforced or post-tensioned), steel plate or steel box girder, concrete segmental, and cable-supported structures for highway and rail projects. You must be comfortable being viewed as a technical expert in engineering analysis and design and have proven background of technical leadership on these types of projects. You will often perform as a technical specialist or project manager on mid-size projects. BSCE required, MSCE in Structural Engineering preferred.
PE required, SE preferred.
Oregon, Washington, and/or California DOT experience preferred, although not essential.
At least 8 years of bridge design experience required.
Experience with segmental, arch, or cable-supported structures is preferred.
Proven hands on experience in all aspects of bridge design projects.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, structural analysis software (LARSA, SAP, etc), structural design software (LEAP products, BDS products, PCA Col, etc), MathCAD, Geomath, and knowledge of Microstation/AutoCAD is preferred.
Demonstrated leadership skills, communication skills, and ability to work with various teams is essential. Project management skills desirable.
