Position Description
In December of 2008, HDR, a top 25 ENR ranked firm for Power with over 170 office locations and Devine Tarbell & Associates, Inc. (DTA), a leader in hydropower and water resources consulting services to the renewable energy industry, have joined together to create HDR / DTA. The combination of HDRs broad resources in the power industry and DTAs position as one of the top hydropower and pump storage firms, make HDR / DTA a significant provider of design and consulting services for the clients they serve.



The primary duties of the Senior Hydro-Mechanical Engineer is to lead design efforts on hydroelectric power plant projects across North America.

Projects will include both life extension and upgrade of existing power generating facilities as well as new power generation facilities. Will provide field support during installation, testing and start-up of hydro equipment in the field. Establishes client relations, and is involved with the marketing, design and production meetings with regard to mechanical systems. In addition, will support licensing and regulatory activities. Will be involved in business development and marketing efforts within the office. On occasion, may serve as a Project Manager on larger projects in addition to serving in a lead technical role. As a Senior Engineer/PM, you will be expected to plan, organize, and supervise the work engineering professionals and technicians from offices across the company on various projects.



Keyword(s):

Senior Mechanical Engineer, PE, Hydro Bachelors or Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering; PE required. Candidate should have 10+ years experience in design and operational support of conventional and pumped storage hydroelectric generating stations. Experience with the design and testing of mechanical equipment including turbines, pump-turbines, pumps, valves, compressors and other mechanical components. Demonstrated leadership skills, previous team coordination and project management experience. Previous experience with a consulting engineering firm, A&E, EPC or Utility is required. Field work and occasional overnight travel will be required.

Microsoft Office, MS Project or Primavera, and DeltaGraph.
