The primary duties of the Highway Engineer is to serve in a technical role, under the direction of a Project Manager on the engineering development of urban and rural highway/roadway projects. Overseeing the work of CAD Designers and possibly other EITs, the duties of this position include preparing detailed engineering designs for roadway and highway projects. Project involvement will range from site feasibility analysis to final design and through the construction phase. Experience should include urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout and CAD base alignment plans. Coordination of survey, grading, drainage and utilities and layout of various site items is a plus. May also assume some project management duties and have a fair amount of client interaction.
